Those Kim Kardashian Photos

So everyone’s seen them, and if you haven’t where have you been?! The world went CRAZY about those Kim Kardashian West pictures for Paper Magazine. Kimmy K left nothing to the imagination this time (not that there was much anyway), when she stripped off and smiled for the camera. The pictures had the tagline ‘Break the internet’, which she had a good go at doing. The photos were taken by Jean-Paul Goude and he also used Kim to recreate his iconic “Champagne Incident” shot (an image also known as Carolina Beaumont, New York for the name of the model and the location in which it was taken).

Everyone knows Kim Kardashian; she is very, very famous. She has a daughter named North, with the infamous Kanye West and has around 25 million Twitter followers. She is constantly in the spot light and the media. On Wednesday Paper Magazine released two photos of Mrs West and released two more today. Thursday’s pictures included a bit extra viewing. I personally don’t understand her reasoning for the full frontal nude photo, we already know she has a lovely, curvy figure with a rather astonishing backside. What was the need for her to show her other stuff to the entire world? Somethings are best kept away. I really didn’t enjoy waking up this morning, having my breakfast and doing my daily Facebook scroll and seeing Kim’s frontal bits. No thank you. Surely Kanye can’t be okay with this? I thought he was supposed to be some crazy control freak…But apparently he’s fully behind his wife (no pun intended). He took to twitter sharing the butt picture with #ALLDAY.

My biggest concern is what is she going to say to her daughter North when she’s old enough to understand what her mother has done? Personally, as much as I love my Mum I’d be completely shocked by seeing pictures of her naked and knowing that the world has seen them too. Poor North, I’m not saying Kim’s a bad mother, however I personally see these pictures as a bad choice as a mother and a role model to young female fans. Girls need to stop aspiring to women like Kim Kardashian, she got famous for an “accidental” sex tape, married a rude rapper and is now showing her entire naked body off for the world to see. Why do we as people take interest to people like her? I’ve clearly taken an interest as I’m currently writing this blog about her; it must be her mind blowing actions that caught my attention. In the interview with Paper Magazine discussing her social media life Kim said, “I love sharing my world with people,” to which I believe this is just another sentence for ‘I like a lot of attention’.

It’s not just Kim who got some attention this week via social media, her younger sister Khloe released a photo on instagram that caused quite a big response. Khloe shared to her followers a photo of herself, and sisters Kourtney and Kim with the words “The only KKK to ever let black men in”. Is she stupid? Some user on instagram commented this,  ‘This isn’t funny at all. Why make jokes about a group that terrorised and still terroises my people. You’re a clown for this. Very disrespectful and disgusting for this. A joke.’ clearly her fans didn’t see the funny side to it.

I found that one hilarious thing came from Kim’s Paper Magazine shoot was the photo shopped pictures that people were sharing on the internet. I’ve shared some of my favourites below…Glistening: A lot of users compared the reality star to a glazed donut

Mythical beast: One user turned Kim into a beautiful centaur

Monty The Penguin

On Thursday John Lewis released it’s highly anticipated Christmas advert on their social media websites, and the UK went mad! It was all over Facebook, Twitter and shared from YouTube non-stop, and so far has over ten million views on YouTube in just four days. It’s amazing how excited people get about the John Lewis Christmas adverts, considering they only started advertising on television in 2007. This year’s advert shows a story of a young boy named Sam and a penguin named Monty.

Here’s a quick run through of what happens… The music throughout the advert is Tom Odell’s cover of John Lennon’s song “Real Love” and it’s set in east London. Sam plays with his pet penguin (who was created through the magic of CGI), they play with Lego, go to the park and jump on the trampoline together; all standard things boys and penguins do together right? So as December 25th starts to approach the boy realises that Monty is sad and is looking for love and a companion to share the Christmas season with. So on Christmas day Sam surprises Monty with a female mate (Mabel). SPOLIER ALERT! Turns out the penguins are not real and they are just the boy’s teddies. Still really sweet though. The message is “Give someone the Christmas they’ve been dreaming of”.

My favourite part about the whole advertising campaign is the fact that, John Lewis is working in partnership with Wildlife Charities to help promote adopting penguins that are endangered because of global warming. So fans can feel like they have given something to the Monty’s and the Mabel’s.

Now I love John Lewis, they are a company that I wish to work for someday and their work ethos is something all companies should aspire to. However I don’t understand, as I feel like I’m the only person who didn’t cry at this advert. Is there something wrong with me? I just don’t see what the big fuss is! Yes it is a wonderful advert and very warming and I did find parts of it adorable. But my timeline’s were filled with people saying how they couldn’t stop crying at the advert. There were even videos of English celebs crying at it being posted on the internet. My flatmate Laura and I were two complete opposites on this advert; obviously in this case she was the crier. I asked her why she cried and her answer was “because the penguin was cute and the boy wanted him to be happy”. If we all cried at things that we thought were cute we’d be walking in the streets crying after seeing puppies and babies? But we’re not. So what makes this advert so different?

Dr Sheila Keegan is an expert in retail psychology and The Mirror on Sunday asked her to analyse the advert. Here’s why she said it made people so emotional. “This is an advert where there are lots of little touches which you don’t notice at first but which work together to give you the perfect Christmas we all want but often we don’t achieve it. There are no rows, no unhappy people, no mess and no overindulgence. They have all the elements brought together by John Lewis to give that perfect experience.” To me I still don’t understand the tears but that’s just me. If you want to cry, go ahead, I’m certainly not going to stop you. I know I can cry at adverts because it’s happened before, take the John Lewis 2011 Christmas advert for instance. I balled my eyes out because it felt so much more real to me, it’s about a young boy who is so excited on the run up to Christmas just so he can give his parents a gift from himself. Take a look for yourself and decide which one is your favourite.

Die hard Disney fans, get excited! Pixar have announced a new Toy Story will be made. Toy Story 4 is set to be released in June 2017 and Buzz, Woody, and all the rest of the gang will be back on our screens for their fourth film. Now if you’re a fan like I am, this news is thrilling! However there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to be let down by the new movie. Toy Story 3 for me was the perfect ending, all the gang were given to a new owner and had a new life with a new child. It really was a happy ending and what happened next was left to the imagination.

John Lasseter, the director of the original and second Toy Story, has come back to work his magic on the fourth film, he was also the director Cars, Cars 2 and A Bug’s Life. Lasseter said this week about the characters of Toy Story, “We love these characters so much; they are like family to us”. Which I think most Toy Story fans like myself would agree with. I have grown up with these characters and they are now going to be apart of my adulthood too, as when the new film gets released I’ll be 23. The team who will be creating the new film consists of amazingly talented directors, who have created films such as Up, Finding Nemo and had worked on the previous Toy Story’s. So with all these amazing directors they can’t make it a total flop right?

BBC Radio One’s film critic Rihanna Dhillon made the point of saying that the only reason the fourth film was being made was because Disney and Pixar could afford to make it. And no matter what, millions and millions of people would still go and watch it, which is so true. She was another who agreed that the films should have been left as a trilogy and that the fourth film isn’t needed.

The big question is, what is the story of the film? Well, John Lasseter has been trying to keep details of the film on the low down. However it has been announced that the film will be based around a love story…But a love story with who? Woody and the new owner Bonnie? Jessie and Buzz? Barbie and Ken? or maybe with some new characters? It’s certainly something that’s got us all guessing and thinking.

More exciting news is that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are set to reprise their voices. They couldn’t really do a film with them not playing the voices of Woody and Buzz, as it would completely ruin the magic of the characters.

So that’s the information we have at the moment, please share your thoughts on this wonderfully exciting news!!! And let’s hope that it’s all that we want it to be!

Dream Reader

Today’s blog post will be written to my dream reader, a person who I would love to read this blog and perhaps someday will. I’ve decided to write it to my goddaughter, Posy.

Posy is almost seven months old and is so precious to me, she is my first godchild and the daughter of my beautiful best friend. So here we go…

Posy, the day you were born was a day overfilled with so much happiness and love, you a small little bundle made my best friend smile in a way I’ve never seen her smile before. A smile only you could you could make her do. I was so proud of her and so so thankful that you had arrived.

Since that day you’ve grown up quite abit, you are so funny and are so amazingly beautiful. A few weeks ago we had your christening and I got to stand up at the altar with you and make a promise to you and to God that I’ll always be there and I’ll always look after you. I intend to keep that promise Posy petal, for the rest of your life I’ll always be here for you. No matter what you need throughout your life I’ll always be here for you.

I know that when you grow up you’ll make the right choices on your way and you’ll be an absolute credit to all of us. Don’t ever loose your cheeky smile, and never stop making us laugh.

I never knew what having a godchild meant, but now I do. I have a love for you that only I can have. It’s a special love, cause your a special girl. I’m so excited to see you grow up and see your life. Love you forever Posy.

Welcome to my blog, my name is Laurenne Bailey, you could probably have guessed that from the big, black bold letters at the top of the page right? Let me tell you a little bit about me, so my name is Laurenne pronounced just Lauren, the normal way. My mother decided to have some fun when picking my name, either that or she was drunk and misspelt it on my birth certificate. I’m English and a proud northerner. Finally I’m a student studying Retail Management at De Montfort University. That’s all you need to know for now, more to come in following posts.

Well the reason I have decided to create this blog is to share my fantastic, magical thoughts with all the lovely folk on the internet. This blog will cover many different topics that interest me and hopefully everyone who’s going to read it! So I hope you all enjoy this journey I’m about to take on my first ever blog.
